"This place changed me. It awakened something in me that I didn’t even realize"

I first visited Elephant’s Home & Nature six years ago after hearing about it through a friend. From my very first interaction with Tong, I felt an immediate connection to her and the mission of the sanctuary. Choosing to visit was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The staff welcomed me with such warmth, and it was clear that this was not a tourist attraction, but a true home. The elephants are cared for with genuine love and respect, and you can see how deeply they trust the people around them.
That first visit left a lasting impression on me. Over the next four years, I stayed in touch with Tong and continued to support them by sending donations for food, supplies, and treats—not only for the elephants, but also for the children who live there.
When I returned four years later, I wasn’t treated like a guest—I was welcomed back as family. I stayed longer than most visitors, spending my days working with the elephants and connecting with the staff. The bond I felt with both the people and the animals only grew stronger.
What makes Elephant’s Home & Nature so special is its authenticity. The elephants are all rescues, and they are never forced to perform or entertain. Instead, they are treated with kindness and rewarded for positive behavior. Visitors are invited to interact with them in a natural, respectful way—whether that’s feeding them, walking alongside them, or simply sharing quiet moments together. It’s a deeply moving experience.
The staff are incredibly dedicated, humble, and knowledgeable. They take the time to teach visitors how to properly and respectfully interact with the elephants, while working tirelessly every day to provide them with the care they deserve—from feeding and bathing to meeting their medical needs.
This place changed me. It awakened something in me that I didn’t even realize was missing. Although I live in the United States, I truly feel like I have a second family in Thailand. The people, the elephants, and the entire experience have left a permanent mark on my heart.
I continue to support the home however I can and hope to return again in the future. In the meantime, I proudly share my experience with others and encourage anyone considering a visit to Thailand to make this a priority.
If you’re looking for a meaningful, ethical, and unforgettable experience with elephants, Elephant’s Home & Nature is truly the place to go.
